Blend Epilation: A Modern Approach to Permanent Hair Removal
Blend epilation is a contemporary method of hair removal that has been medically approved for its enhanced effectiveness and comfort compared to traditional electrolysis. This advanced technique combines diathermy and galvanic currents to deliver superior results, with minimal skin reaction and increased durability.
1. Technique: The Blend epilation method integrates both diathermy (heat) and galvanic (chemical) currents. By combining these two approaches, the process utilises the caustic properties of sodium hydroxide (lye) to effectively target and destroy hair follicles.
2. Process: When heated, lye becomes more caustic and liquidised, allowing it to penetrate all areas of the hair follicle more effectively. The heat also makes the tissue surrounding the dermal papilla more porous, enhancing the diffusion of the lye and increasing the treatment's efficacy.
Pre and Post Treatment Requirements Include
(but not limited to):
Ensure you take the following precautions before your treatment:
Do not use retinols, exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs, PHAs etc) or physical exfoliants (scrubs etc) 48 hours prior to treatment.
Ensure you take following precautions for the next 48-72 hours after treatment:
Apply aloe vera as required over the treatment area for the next 72 hours. Always apply with clean cotton wool, not fingers. You can also keep your aloe vera in the fridge for an extra cooling effect which may help to soothe the skin. Always ensure that you are applying SPF of at least 30 to the treatment area, regardless of weather conditions. Gently cleanse around the area and pat dry with a clean tissue/towel. Any scabs or crusting which forms may take anywhere from 5-14 days to drop off. If the treatment area is below the neck, this can take up to 4 weeks.
